As a valued member of the Rackel Belzil LLP team since February 2014, Matthew continues to bring his knowledge and expertise in civil litigation matters, focusing in the areas of commercial and construction litigation. Matthew’s commitment to his family, his clients, and his community not only reflects the high standards set by Rackel Belzil LLP but also the outstanding level of service we offer to all our clients.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2000, Matt obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. The following year, he was called to the Alberta Bar, and since then has gained comprehensive experience representing clients before all levels of court in Alberta. He joined Rackel Belzil LLP in February 2014. Matt practices civil litigation, focusing on the areas of commercial and construction litigation. He is accomplished in resolving disputes in a number of areas, including those involving builders’ liens and shareholders. Matt’s knowledge and attention to detail has resulted in a number of important, reported decisions, including:

Matt enjoys participating in his community, and maintains extensive volunteer commitments. He has volunteered for a number of years at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, providing legal information and advice to the economically disadvantaged. Furthermore, since its inception in 2005, Matt has served as a board member of the registered charity One Child’s Village, an organization that provides support and basic needs to HIV/AIDS orphans.
