Litigation runs in Louis’ blood. ┬áRaised in a legal family, he has been drawn to the law and the administration of justice since his youth. Since being called to the bar in 1990, Louis has practiced primarily in the area of civil litigation.

More recently, he has focused on corporate and commercial litigation and construction law. He is also experienced in the fields of administrative law, estate litigation, and insurance litigation. Louis appears before all levels of court in Alberta and participates in commercial arbitration, mediation, and judicial dispute resolutions. His extensive civil trial experience includes lead counsel in both judge and civil jury trials.

Louis represents clients in a broad range of commercial matters including disputes over land development agreements, commercial leases and services agreements, and the purchase and sale of businesses.

In the realm of construction law, Louis represents clients in diverse matters including delay claims, tendering disputes, deficiency litigation and warranty claims. His corporate litigation experience includes representing defrauded investors and clients in shareholders’ and governance disputes. For condominium corporations, he assists with construction deficiency, financial management and organization matters.

Louis is a former chair of the Canadian Bar Association Construction Law section for Northern Alberta, and has spoken and written articles on a number of occasions.
